Book description from

Former homecoming queen Samantha surprised everyone by going into law enforcement, but beneath her tough façade lies a wary heart. The tragedy that struck her family is an ever-present reminder that nothing is ever as it seems. When the man she loves, Quinn Braddock, a doctor and Iraq war veteran, is accused of murder, Samantha assumes the worst. Brokenhearted, her confidence shattered, she returns to Midnight. Though exonerated, Quinn still feels the sting of Samantha’s doubt, but he can’t forget his feelings for her and follows her. Soon after his arrival, a shocking murder terrifies the town, and once again, Quinn is under suspicion. This time, Samantha will not turn her back on the man she loves—even if it means walking into a killer’s trap.

My review:

I received this book from for an honest review.  This book is right up my alley, being romantic suspense.  Also, the guy on the cover is mouth-wateringly hot!

This book is about Quinn Braddock and Samantha Wilde, and Atlanta detective, who have been dating about 4 months and don’t know a whole lot about each others backgrounds.  Sam’s parents were killed, with her mother being murdered by her father, which is caused her a lot of trust issues.  Quinn has a bad relationship with his parents since his brother, who was a psychopathic attempted murder, committed suicide.  Quinn has an ex-wife, with whom he had a horrible relationship, and that experience has made him decide he never wants to marry again.

Quinn’s ex-wife calls him to come over for something he wants to give him that she kept from the divorce.  Quinn arrives at her house (not telling Sam where he was going) and finds his ex-wife dead.  He is suspected in her murder, but eventually cleared of any charges.  Sam doesn’t believe in Quinn’s innocence intially, which ruins their relationship.  Sam ends up leaving the police force and returning to her hometown of Midnight, Alabama.

Quinn discovers it was Sam who was responsbile for clearing his name and he goes to Midnight to try to win her back.  She’s not real happy see him, but can’t deny that she loves him.  They “get back together” only to have Quinn admit that he is still not interested in marriage and them breaking up again.

In the the meantime, someone tries to run Sam over with their car and another woman, who has shown interest in Quinn, is murdered.  This time though, Sam will stand by her man, no matter what.

I did like this book, which was written by Ella Grace (pen name of Christy Reece).  Sam tries to go apologize for not believing in Quinn while still in Atlanta and he was an absolute dick to her.  I didn’ really like that part of Quinn, but through the rest of the book, he was a really likable character.

It’s decided that Quinn is being set up, and I have to admit, I figured it out pretty quickly as to who it was and why.  I thought I’d be mad, but it actually made sense and made the story more interesting.  I hope this series continues, as there are many more characters it could be about.

This is a good story, the mystery was good, and the sex scenes were steamy:)  I would recommend.
