Book Review – Hope Ignites by Jaci Burton (Hope #2)

Logan McCormack likes his isolated life on the ranch, until a movie crew starts filming there. When actress Desiree Jenkins blows into his life, she wrecks it harder than the Oklahoma winds with her brutal honesty and soft touch. Des knows this is a temporary stay, but she loves the open freedom of the land, and for the first time in her life, Des feels like she might have found a place she can call home, with a man she might be falling in love with. But Logan’s heart is tougher than the soil beneath them—can she convince him that they belong together.

4 out of 5 stars

Book 2 of the Hope series is about Logan, who runs the family ranch.  Logan rents out some of his 45,000 acre ranch to a film company.  Des Jenkins, a big movie star, and her best friend Colt are the stars of the movie, and Des and Logan cross paths pretty quickly.
Logan has some serious commitment issues, thanks to his mother’s abandonment.  He  has his ranch and feels that is all he needs.  Des quickly gets under his skin, and they develop a relationship.  Logan is very insecure about Des’s relationship with Colt, which is completely platonic.
Des, on the other hand, is a great heroine.  She’s tough, speaks her mind and is totally honest.  I found her very refreshing and liked that she didn’t put up with Logan’s shit.  She was very loyal to Colt, and stood up to her smarmy director.  And she quickly adapted to life on the ranch, which was cool.
I thought this book was better than the first, mainly because Des was more likable than Emma (I like Emma now).  Like this series and will be reading on.  Recommend.
