Book Review – Shaken, Not Stirred by Sawyer Bennett

Goodreads Summary

Casey Markham is a man-eater in a rut. Swearing off Sensual couplerelationships may keep her heart safe, but she’s beginning to question if her casual flings will ever leave her satisfied. She’s wondering if it’s finally time to let go of the past and stop letting history control her future.

Bad boy biker, Tenn Jennings can’t get Casey off his mind. A chance encounter with the beautiful blond has left its mark, and now he’s determined to prove her wrong about everything she thought she knew about men.  It’s safe to say… Casey Markham has met her match.

Review

First, let me start off saying I’m very sad that this is the last book in the series (if you’re reading, Ms. Bennett, I would love some more of this series).  This book was about Casey, Hunter (book 1) and Brody’s (book 2) little sister.  Casey doesn’t believe in relationships, and almost all the guys she dates are rich.

One day, Tenn Jennings rides into town on his Harley with Andrea’s (book 4) brother, Kyle.  Tenn and Kyle help Casey with a flat tire, where Tenn is instantly attracted to Casey.  She proceeds to work at Last Call, and Tenn and Kyle end up there to have a drink.  Thus begins their “relationship.”

I’m going to say flat out that Casey’s reasoning for the way she is with men is absolutely ludicrous.    Casey was called a brat several times during the book and she was just that – a giant brat.  There were several times I wanted to slap her, but then there were other times that she was great.

One of the ways she was great was with Tenn’s daughter, Zoey.  Zoey is 14 and doesn’t care much for her mother (neither does Tenn), but Casey and Zoey hit it off right away.  Tenn faced a tragedy during the book and Casey was there for him the entire time, which showed great maturity on her part.  Then, one chapter later, she’s acting like a brat again.

Tenn, on the other hand, was a super cool, sexy, biker dad.  He was so patient with Casey, putting up with her stupid shit and never giving up on her.

If this is the last book in the series, I would have preferred an epilogue with updates on all the characters from all the books (a la Kristen Proby’s With Me in Seattle series).  I enjoyed the epilogue, but wish it was different.

I loved this series, and since SB introduced me to a few characters from the “Off” series, I think I’ll read that too down the line.

Happy reading.
