I was provided an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I’ve read a few Pippa Grant books, and they are funny and light, and this one was a well. I just thought the fun and light heartedness went on for WAY TOO LONG.
Ellie is dumped on Christmas Eve and ends up hooking up with her brother’s best friend, Wyatt. He immediately tells his it was a mistake, she runs out of the house and ends up in a bad accident.
Fast forward six months, and Ellie’s best friend is marrying her ex’s brother in a pirate themed wedding. Ellie goes to one of her brother’s houses (he’s a famous rock star) to chill and she runs into Wyatt and his 7-year old son, Tucker.
Wyatt goes all alpha on Ellie, due to his personality and military background, and also due to his guilt over her accident. It was the best part of the story.
What wasn’t the best part of the story was the whole pirate theme. It got old really quick, and honestly, it consumed about 60% of this story. It just went on too long – as did this book. It was too long in my opinion.
Sadly, this book was kind of forgettable. I couldn’t even remember how it ended, and I just finished it Monday.
If you like pirates, this is the book for you. If you’re looking for a good brother’s best friend romance, I’d skip this one.
