If you have read my blog, you know I’m a huge fan of Aurora Rose Reynolds (ARR) and Uncle Joe is a character from her Mayson family series. I was happy to see that Joe was getting his own book, but I found a plot of this story to be so ridiculous that I can’t look past it.
Joe is a true alpha. Through and through. While in Georgia on vacation, he lays eyes on Bernice and knows he’s seen an angel. He’s smitten. Bernice is part of a very wealthy family in Georgia and this is where the story gets silly – her father will stop at literally nothing to keep Joe away from his daughter.
Bernice is a woman over 50 years old. I had such a hard time believing a dad of a woman over 50 would go to such great lengths as her father did. It was just ludicrous and really annoyed me.
Apart from that, the story was good. I liked Bernice. She was a very cool chick. She raised her niece as her own, while never having married herself. She was very close to her sister, and tried to keep herself away from her stupid father.
I loved Joe. He knew what he wanted and went for it. And he wanted Bernice. It was some serious insta-love. But in a way, I really believed it could happen. They were really meant to be together.
Overall, the book was good. I just hated the storyline with the father. I found it so far-fetched.
