Man Crush Monday

Man Crush Monday

Man Crush Monday is a weekly meme created by yours truly.  I read mostly romance, so I started this as a way to introduce my readers to some new reading material.  I have since branched and do TV MCM’s as well.

The purpose of MCM is to spotlight men that are memorable & significant to you, either in print, TV or in real life.

Rules

  • Tell us who your “Man Crush” is and tell us why you like him.
  • Cut and past your post into the comments so others can see.
  • Be creative and have fun!

My Man Crush Monday for this week is Schmidt from New Girl (Fox, Tuesdays).

I’ve decided to go the TV route this week.  I binged the first three seasons of New Girl on Netflix, and have watched the rest of the series live.  Watching Schmidt’s growth as a person over the past 6 seasons has been really fun.  It’s hard to believe that the same person who had put constantly put money in a “douche jar” (for saying/doing stupid things) has turned into my favorite male character on the show.

Schmidt had some growing pains.  He found the love of his life, then lost her.  Once he got her back, he became a new person, and I LOVE the new Schmidt.  He’s a real person now.  I really hope that the show isn’t over, because I need more of Schmidt, especially now that we know his first name!!

Share your MCM in the comments below.  I’m always looking for new books to read, movies to watch or TV shows to binge!

Happy Monday.

Man Crush Monday #43

This is my 43rd installment in my Man Crush Monday meme.  Since I read mostly romance, I thought I’d share some of my “book crushes” with you, and possibly introduce you to some new reading material.

My Man Crush Monday for this week is Nico Manganiello from Friends Without Benefits by Penny Reid.

friends without benefitsThere are three things you need to know about Elizabeth Finney: 1) She suffers from severe sarcastic syndrome, especially when she’s unnerved, 2) No one unnerves her like Nico Manganiello, and 3) She knows how to knit.

Elizabeth Finney is almost always right about everything: the musical merits of boy bands are undervalued by society, “benefits” with human Ken dolls are better without friendship, and the sun has set on her once-in-a-lifetime chance for true love. But when Elizabeth’s plans for benefits without friendship are disarmed by the irritatingly charismatic and chauvinistic Nico Manganiello- her former nemesis- she finds herself struggling to maintain the electric fence around her heart while avoiding electrocution or, worse, falling in love.

Ok, first of all, I’m breaking my own rules (not official, just my own) and I’m using the guy from the book I’m currently reading (though I’m at 85% – so almost done).  I don’t generally do that, but I’m just so enamored with Nico that I had to use him this week.

Oh Nico.  You are awesome.  Nico Manganiello is the star of a comedy show on Comedy Central and a celebrity.  Elizabeth Finney is an MD who is helping treat his niece.  Nico was the boy who tormented Elizabeth while they were growing up.  Started the nickname Skinny Finney.  Thing is, he was in love with her then, and is in love with her now.  Elizabeth is kind of a bitch (my full review will come later) but man, Nico is one patient dude.  And sweet.  And funny.  And Italian.  I pictured Joe Manganiello (below) the whole time.  Yummy.  Seriously not sure why I waited 3 years to pick up book 2 in this series.  Book three is already on hold.

Man Crush Monday #42

This is my 42nd installment in my Man Crush Monday meme.  Since I read mostly romance, I thought I’d share some of my “book crushes” with you, and possibly introduce you to some new reading material.

My Man Crush Monday for this week is Lukas Hendricks from Sweet Spot by Stella Rhys.

Our first meeting as neighbors was screwed from the start.
He was hot. I was naked. And we had no chance in hell at ever being platonic.

sweet spotI’ll be the first to admit that I live at extremes. After going ten years locked in what felt like a dysfunctional marriage, I’m now decidedly boy-free. In nearly three years I’ve had no boyfriends, no flings, no dates and no sex. For the sake of my dream career, the sacrifice has been easy.  At least it was.  Until he came along.

Lukas Hendricks. He’s rude, gorgeous, arrogant – a stone-carved wall of muscle and distraction. He’s everything I know to avoid but there’s no avoiding your next-door neighbor. Oh yeah. The man now lives three steps from me and to make matters worse, he crashed into my life while I was relaxed in the tub – mortifying to say the least and it went something like this: I was exposed. He looked. He laughed.

And then I locked myself out.  In short, Lukas Hendricks was trouble from the start. And me?  I was – for the first time in years – about to be screwed.

Lukas Hendricks is staying at his sister’s apartment while his apartment is being renovated.  When he meets his neighbor Lia, she is literally wet and naked.  Hilarity ensues.  The chemistry between them was off the charts, but the banter was really hilarious.  Lukas was dealing with a trauma from his past and a douche canoe of an ex-business partner.  He was so great with Lia.  He allowed her to have her independence, despite his intense need to swoop in and save the day.  And the guy on the cover is really, really yummy.  I’m hoping from more in this series:)

Man Crush Monday #41

This is my 41st installment in my Man Crush Monday meme.  Since I read mostly romance, I thought I’d share some of my “book crushes” with you, and possibly introduce you to some new reading material.

My Man Crush Monday for this week is Mac MacKenzie from Blush For Me by Kristen Proby.

As the take-charge wine bar manager of Seduction, Portland’s hottest new restaurant, Katrina Meyers is the definition of no-nonsense, and she isn’t afraid of anything. Well, almost anything: she hates to fly. When she’s forced to travel on a death trap with wings, the turbulence from hell has her reaching for any safe haven—including the incredibly handsome guy sitting next to her.

Ryan “Mac” MacKenzie hasn’t been able to get his sexy seatmate out of his head. The way she clung to him stirred something inside him he didn’t think existed: tenderness. As the owner of a successful wine touring company, Mac thinks he’s got a handle on what life can throw at him and he’s not prepared for any surprises, especially in the feelings department. And when he brings a tour into Seduction, he sees the petite spitfire he just can’t forget.

Mac is determined to discover what else they have in common besides fine wine and the inability to keep their hands off each other. But what will it take for two stubborn people to realize that what they have is so much more than a hot chemistry between the sheets and to admit to falling in love…?

Ryan “Mac” MacKenzie is flying to Napa for a wine convention, when he’s seated next to Kat Meyers – who is absolutely terrified of flying.  He calms her down and gets her through the flight.  It turns out Kat is going to the same convention, so she and Mac sign up (metaphorically) for a “sexcation”.  Turns out, Mac lives in Portland and in the same building as Kat!  I loved Mac.  He was sweet and romantic and he would READ TO KAT from her kindle.  Can you imagine having a guy read your romance novels to you?  Super hot.  Love this whole series (and pretty much anything Kristen Proby writes).  But Mac was really great!

Man Crush Monday #40

This is my 40th installment in my Man Crush Monday meme.  Since I read mostly romance, I thought I’d share some of my “book crushes” with you, and possibly introduce you to some new reading material.

My Man Crush Monday for this week is Kline Brooks from Tapping the Billionaire by Max Monroe.

Blind dates? Online dating profiles? Been there, done that.

tapping the billionaireGeorgia Cummings has zero luck with dating, and the era of the internet is not her friend. No matter how fast she runs, how many corners she turns, she can’t find her way out of this weird, alternate universe where men think dick pics are a replacement for small talk and getting to know a girl. One more crotch selfie and she might write men off for good…

But why can’t she stop fantasizing about him?

Kline Brooks is the quintessential billionaire bad boy—dark, styled, short hair, muscles for days, and a panty-dropping smile. Except—he isn’t.  As his employee, he won’t touch her with a ten foot pole. But she won’t touch him either.

Kline Brooks is the owner of Brooks Media, a large publishing company.  He’s a billionaire, but doesn’t act like one. He finally realizes he has been overlooking his employee Georgia Cummings for months, and takes steps to remedy that situation.  Kline is really funny, and this book made me laugh out loud a few times.  I can’t find the other two books in the series to “borrow”, which makes me sad, but I’ll find them!  This book is great, and I loved Kline!

Happy reading.

Man Crush Monday #39

This is my 39th installment in my Man Crush Monday meme.  Since I read mostly romance, I thought I’d share some of my “book crushes” with you, and possibly introduce you to some new reading material.

My Man Crush Monday for this week is Levi Michaelson from Levi’s Blue by M. Leighton.

Goodreads Summary

levi's blueFour beautiful days. Three steamy nights. One breathtaking love. Levi Michaelson. He wanted four dates. Four opportunities to prove I could trust him. Four chances to change my mind about him. I agreed.

Probably not my smartest decision. He was everything I knew to avoid—gorgeous, charming, sexy as hell—but I couldn’t help myself. When he touched me the whole world disappeared. I should’ve known I could lose myself to him, that he could be the one man to destroy me.

I guess it’s true what they say—some things are too good to be true. And Levi Michaelson might just be one of them.

Levi Michaelson attends an art show and literally catches Evie de Champlain.  Evie is blind and has given up all hope of ever finding love, until she meets Levi.  Levi is very persistent, and won’t give up until Evie lets him take her out.  Levi was the sweetest man I’d read in a while.  He would vividly describe things to Evie so that she could picture them in her minds eye.  He made her step out of her comfort zone and he was incredibly patient and loving.  He was such a great guy!!

Man Crush Monday #38

This is my 38th installment in my Man Crush Monday meme.  Since I read mostly romance, I thought I’d share some of my “book crushes” with you, and possibly introduce you to some new reading material.

My Man Crush Monday for this week is Ryan Pierce from Delivery Girl by Lily Kate.

delivery girlGood things come in extra-large, smoking hot packages. Things like pizza.

The very pizzas that I deliver for my dad’s restaurant, Peretti’s Pizza. It’s a temporary job, something to pay the bills until I graduate from school, but it does the trick. In fact, it’s working quite well until Ryan Pierce of the LA Lightning decides to order a pizza from me, and life as I know it turns upside down.

You see, Ryan Pierce doesn’t just open his front door. He opens it buck naked. And suddenly, I’m not the one boasting the biggest, hottest package in the room. However, it’s what happens next that makes my stomach flip upside down whenever my phone beeps. Ryan starts to call, and then text, and then fifteen pizza deliveries and one hot-as-sin kiss later, we’re friends. So when he asks me to be his fake girlfriend at his brother’s wedding, I’m happy to help. But the longer we pretend, the more I worry that this is one package I might not be able to handle.

Ryan Pierce is a professional hockey player in Minnesota, but he’s in California to meet with a new agent about a possible new move to the LA team.  He orders a pizza and opens the door wearing only a towel to the cutest delivery girl he’s ever seen.  He then proceeds to order more pizzas then one person should, just to be able to spend more time with Andi, the delivery girl.  Ryan was sweet, romantic and a true gentleman.  He was so sweet and one of the best guys I read in a while.
