Man Crush Monday

Man Crush Monday #11

This is my 11th installment in my Man Crush Monday meme.  Since I read mostly romance, I thought I’d share some of my “book crushes” with you, and possibly introduce you to some new reading material.

My Man Crush Monday for this week is Axel Reid from Axel by Harper Sloan.

Summary from goodreads.comFate hasn’t always been friends with Isabelle West. In fact, fate has been a downright bitch. Isabelle has learned the hard way how hard life can be axelwhen fate isn’t by your side. It can hand you dreams on silver platters, but it can snatch them right back and hand you nightmares. One thing Isabelle knew for sure fate was consistent with was taking away everything she ever loved.

For the last two years Isabelle has been slowly clearing the clouds of her past. Happiness is finally on the horizon. She has a thriving business, great friends, and her life back. All she has to do is jump over the last hurdle…her ex-husband. When problems start causing her to fear her new life, and memories that are better left forgotten start rushing to the surface the last thing she needs is a ghost from her past to come knocking on her door.

Axel never thought he would look into the eyes of Isabelle West again, and he wasn’t sure he wanted to now. He’s carried his anger for so long he isn’t sure he can just turn it off, but when he is faced with protecting her and an unexpected desire to have her again, life gets a little more complicated.

Axel, Axel, Axel.  I love a good second chance romance novel, and this didn’t disappoint.  Axel is one of the owners of Corps Security and a former Marine.  Isabelle was the love of his life and their relationship ended badly.  Years later, they end up meeting again and it doesn’t go well.  But things change, and so does Axel.  Axel is fiercely loyal and protective of those he cares about.  Despite his initial feelings for Isabelle, things change quickly and Axel stays a fierce alpha male.  Absolutely loved him and all the other guys in the series.  Highly recommend.

Book Review – Axel by Megan O’Brien

More than a year ago, Sophie disappeared without a trace. axelWhen she turns up again, she’s a different woman with one big secret and Axel will stop at nothing to make her his.  Sophie was once afraid of the world. In her time away she’s learned a hell of a lot except to rely on anyone other than herself.  When Axel comes careening back into her life he demands just that and so much more.  He won’t take no for an answer.  As the threats build from all sides Axel will stop at nothing to protect those he loves.

4 out of 5 stars

The third book in the Ride series is the story of Axel and Sophie.  I read Sal in October 2014,  and kind of forgot the gist of the series, but I was quickly reminded of the characters and their backstory.

The beginning of the book finds Sophie learning some news that has her fleeing.  The reason why is really predictable and kind of dumb, but it is what it is.

Regardless of the circumstances, Axel finds Sophie and brings her back to Nevada.  She has a hard time trusting him at first, after the way he acted.  But there are circumstances that cause her to trust Axel, no matter what.

I freaking loved Axel.  I was such a dominant alpha male.  I liked Sophie, though her reason for leaving was so dumb.  I love the supporting cast in this series, and really thought I knew how things were going to end.  Turns out I was wrong.

I’m looking forward to Ryker’s story next.

Happy reading.
