Man Crush Monday

Man Crush Monday #13

This is my 13th installment in my Man Crush Monday meme.  Since I read mostly romance, I thought I’d share some of my “book crushes” with you, and possibly introduce you to some new reading material.

My Man Crush Monday for this week is Quinn Rusek from Man Candy by Melanie Harlow.

Synopsis from goodreads.comHe’s back.  Not just back in town, but living in the flat right beneath mine. And he looks good enough to eat, which is just one more reason to stay man candyaway from him. But I can’t resist.

The sex is incredible (pretty sure we’ve shaken the house right off its foundation), but he can’t fool me—not this time. A degree in marketing and five years in advertising have taught me that “true love” is a fairy tale used to sell lipstick, diamonds, and perfume. It doesn’t exist.

He thinks I’m wrong, and he wants to prove it.  I think he’s crazy, so I dare him to try.  It might be the biggest mistake of my life.

Quinn Rusek was the main reason I finished this book.  He was the sweetest, most patient man I’ve read in a long time.  He knew he wanted Jamie, who was a cynic when it came to love, and gave her the time she needed to realize they were meant to be.  He also loved his mom, and had a lot of regrets about his mom dying at such a young age.  I would highly recommend this book if you love a strong, sweet hero.

Happy reading.

what i'm currently reading

Breathless in Love by Bella Andre and Jennifer Skully.  The story of Will Franconi and Harper Newman has just begun, but I really like Will so far!  Beginning of a new series of guys who are more like brothers than friends.

What I recently finished

Man Candy by Melanie Harlow.  I loved the hero in this book; the heroine was not my favorite, but she redeemed herself in the end.  I’m hoping there are more books with the side characters of the book.

what I plan to read next

At this point, I’m not sure what I’ll read next.  May try to find something new on Amazon (my one free book per month).  I haven’t had a chance to look for any new books lately, so it’s up in the air.

Review

First and foremost, I would like to express my disappoint in the fact that this book HAD NO EPILOGUE!!!    How do you write a stand-alone romance novel without and epilogue.  Majorly disappointing.

I read Melanie Harlow’s series about the Nixon sisters and really loved it, so I knew I needed to give Man Candy a shot.  While I liked the story, I had some issues with it.

The first issue, and this is a biggie, was Jamie, the heroine.  Jamie is a cynic when it comes to romance and has closed herself off to the idea of ever falling in love.  In comes Quinn.  OMG, I freaking LOVED Quinn.  Gorgeous but with a heart of gold, Quinn is one of the most awesome male leads I’ve read in a while.

Jamie had a lot of insecurities, which were super annoying and she was constantly second guessing herself, which was also really annoying.  Quinn made up for Jamie’s shortcomings.  I also really liked Jamie’s brother Alex and his fiancée Nolan.  Jamie’s friends were pretty funny, and I can see the author continuing the series about the two friends.

Overall, this was a good read, but I hope if there are more books in the series, the female leads have a little more backbone.

Happy reading.

what i'm currently reading

Crave by Megan O’Brien.  I read her entire “Ride” series and this book (and series) is a spin-off from book four with some of the characters we met there (which I didn’t realize).  It’s a little predictable, but the MC is a total alpha male and I love him:)

What I recently finished

I haven’t had much time to read lately, so it’s been a week since I started anything:(  The last book I finished was Easy Kisses by Kristen Proby.  Book 4 in the Boudreaux series wasn’t my favorite in the series, but a solid book that I really enjoyed.

what I plan to read next

Likely will read Man Candy by Melanie Harlow next , but I may read the first book in the Maverick Billionaire series by Bella Andre.  The next week is going to be busy so I’ll be luck to finish the book I’m reading now:)

Well….I finished a book last night and read two pages in a new book, but I’m going to read the whole thing, and that’s Easy Kisses by Kristen Proby, which is book 4 in the Boudreaux series.

What I recently finished

Last night, I finished Sway by Adriana Locke.  I really enjoyed this story, and it’s a family series (which are my favorite).   Before that, I read Wrong Number, Right Guy by Elle Casey, which pretty much sucked.

I’m either going to read Mister O by Lauren Blakely or Man Candy by Melanie Harlow.  May have to flip a coin:)
